What am I doing?

The Local Assistants

I will be learning Moroccan Arabic at a language school from July-September before I start working at the ‘Centre of Life’ in Larache, Morocco.  The Centre of Life is a non-profit association for children with disabilities partnered with a local adult disability association.  Before this centre was opened in 2009, there was nowhere else for families with disabled children to receive support or therapy in Larache.

Currently, the centre employs three enthusiastic local  ladies to work as therapy assistants.  They have received a few weeks training by visiting physiotherapists from abroad but there are no physiotherapists based in their centre.  My role will be to support them and hopefully help a little with further training.
